Boiled crawfish are the best in town! Best price, too! Trio Basket was delicious. Casual dining and great food. When you walk in the door you know you are going to get great seafood! The smell is like a backyard crawfish boil!

I was driving from Maryland to Oregon through the South and I stumble upon this wonderful restaurant. Hands down best seafood I have ever had. The gumbo was great, but what really got me going was the Crawfish Etouffee. I also had their amazing shrimp. This is a dining experience fit for a king. Enjoy

My wife and I both had the Cup of Shrimp & Corn soup with Half Fried Oyster Po-Boy. The soup had an awesome taste. Seasoned just right. The po boy was on a New Orleans style Po-Boy bun but it was a bit softer with outstanding taste. The fried oysters were seasoned just enough to enhance the taste of the oysters and not blow you out to where you can't taste anything but spices. Everything was awesome. Thank you Randy and Darlene for such a wonderful meal.

I purchased a poboy and seafood platter. Small portions for the price. There was twice as much bread as shrimp and fish on the poboy. Flavor of the food was ok. Customer service was ok.

In a world run by chain restaurants it is hard to find a good local run restaurant now a days, let alone good seafood; but this place is second to none. Their entire menu is fresh and made to order and includes items such as poboys, fried and boiled seafood (in and out of season) as well as a seafood counter where you can order many different items uncooked to take home. Their menu is average priced and their portions reasonable; if you get any of their seafood boxes the portions are HUGE! The dining room is quaint, but accommodating for a small business lunch or the lone person wanting some good food. If you want to experience true louisiana seafood, this place is definitely it!

We were looking for great crawfish in Baton Rouge on a stopover down I 10. This is a little bit off of the beaten path but is well worth the trip. The food is excellent and the owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

They have very good food. But, the seafood gumbo only has shrimp and maybe one or two very small crab claws in it. They charged a dollar more on their prices, on some items, than what the menu at their counter had. Call or ask first for correct price.

Crawfish togo fair. A dozen oysters, Really! Not as good as they look. I had to go home to get something to eat, $42 lighter.

They have catered our company crawfish boil twice now and both times it was FANTASTIC! It could only be better if my husband cooked it for me :)

Whew! The food here is in a class by itself. Wait until you are really hungry and load up your family and chow down. The owners are on site and hands on and the food is out of this world!! We will be back!!!! Take out would be perfect for game days ! Love these people.

Just walking in the door you are greeted with the smell of PROPERLY SEASONED CRAWFISH... omgosh!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!! The selection of food items goes from boudin balls to buffalo shrimp to boiled turkey necks... I mean did I die and go to seafood heaven... did I mention that you can ALSO purchase uncooked seafood. AND HOT TAMALES??????? I mean really!!!! Pricing points for the food are also great. At the time of my visit HOT BOILED VERY WELL SEASONED (no the sign didn't say that) was $2.99/lb. In New Orleans you can add another $0.60 cents to that. Ample parking. Friendly staff. Seems like a family owned restaurant (there was mention of a Dr Mike Montalbano on the welcome signage). Spacious seating indoors. Unisex bathroom. Nice decor. I'm in love... This will be my GO TO PLACE for seafood when I'm in the BR

We stopped here on or way through. Was worth the effort to find. Catfish Randy was excellent. The crayfish on it was very tender and tasty. The potato salad was the best, love the picked and mustard on it. The staff was very friendly and fun.

  • Devon B.

Spent $10 on soup and half catfish poboy. Poboy was great the soup was shrimp and corn. Let me tell you. All I got was a whole lot of corn and rotelle with ONE tiny shrimp in my SHRIMP and corn soup. Might go back for the poboy but maybe not.

I love this place, with out a doubt the best fried shrimp in Baton Rouge. To die for. Everything else I had was excellent( I tried most of the menu). You haven't lived till you have eaten there at least once. They were right up the street from where I was living, and I am so glad I came across this place. The owner is one of the nicest women I have ever met.

  • Brian H.

I bought a quart of oysters. They were very good. I could tell by the aroma that were shucked in house (like today). The large head on shrimp were also very tasty.

Last Friday was pay day and the first thing I wanted was crawfish from Montalbano's. I had 3 lbs the previous night that were just perfection so I expected the same. I went in for 10 lbs which was almost $70 worth of food. About 40% of that was spoiled old crawfish. Considering how it was perfection the previous day and then to find crawfish breaking apart and smelling rancid the next day was beyond disappointing. Needless to say, I think this is what normally happens when a place builds such a great reputation, quality goes down. I won't be coming here again for crawfish and have advised my friends not to but their other food is still really great so maybe it was just a bad day. I know you can do better so I hope for your regulars and new customers you'll do better.

It's my first visit here and I must say, their fried seafood were delicious! I'm from New Orleans and I can definitely say that it's better then some of the places I had in New Orleans. The batter were seasoned well. I ordered the butterflied shrimps, fried oysters, and the small popcorn shrimp. I loved it all! At first when I ordered the butterflied shrimp, I thought the size of it were going to be small. Boy was I wrong! They were huge! Because I ordered other stuff, I couldn't finish my shrimps. It's ok though, I ate the rest of it later on the only reason why I gave it a 4 star because I also ordered the seafood gumbo and the catfish randy for the mister. He wasn't impressed with the gumbo. I gave it a taste also. It definitely was lack luster. We've had better. Aside from the gumbo, I loved everything else. I also loved the employees. Everyone was so friendly, even when business was busy. I definitely would come back again!

Never would have found this place unless a coworker had not suggested it to me. Decided to swing by for lunch and see what all the hype was about. Tried the Boiled Shrimp Poboy combo and some Stuffed Crab...ZING!! I don't think you can find this kind of seafood in Cali. It was a flavor-coaster and as we all know that's a good thing. Not sure if I will make it back out to this little gem but if life brings me to Baton Rouge again I think stopping by for some good eats again will be in the cards.

So this lil spot off Florida!! (Don't drive too fast or you'll miss it!!) Great for crawfish and yes I'm in love with those budin balls!! Need to try some different foods.. I'm sure it's all just as good!!! friendly service hardly any wait! Yes.. I will be back again!!!!

Great food and the prices were great. The staff was ready to serve. I completely understand why they stay busy!!! Very clean and worth every penny!

I have gone here for boiled crabs and shrimp po-boys. I have gone for dinner and lunch. Both times the service was timely and the food delicious. We got Boudin balls for a party. They were good, but not great. Great flavor but over-cooked, nothing to stop me from eating there. I look forward to trying their catering out again. For great boiled seafood, friends seafood, and just all around fresh seafood, you can't go wrong here!

  • Corey C.

This was the best seafood I've had in a long time. I had the crawfish which came with corn on the Cobb and red potatoes. My son had the fried shrimp which were huge and seasoned expertly. Also got a catfish dinner to go, very moist and delicious. If I'm within 100 miles of this place again I'll be back for sure.

Great food, great service, great price! Anytime I'm back in Baton Rouge for a visit, I make sure to get at least one meal here. I've never been disappointed.

Darlene and randy are amazing! They taught us floridians how to crack our crabs. They helped us choose our food and made the experience amazing! The food is soooooo good and authentic for Baton Rouge. The corn on the cob even had a Cajun spice to it!!! Please eat here as soon as possible! It is so good and affordable.

Absolutely love this place. All of the food is fantastic and the service has been friendly and quick every time. The boiled crawfish has been seasoned great every time and the gumbo is really good also (but beware....it can have oysters in it!) The only major downside to this place is the hours. 7:00PM is WAY too early to close!!! Even the weekend hours are pretty early considering the majority of their menu is hot, cooked food. But overall, a great place.....especially for lunch.

  • Nam T.

This place is overpriced and serves less than average seafood. Customer service stinks of BS, I have been here multiple times because it is close to home but truthfully, I HATE this place.
